WHY WE ARE RUNNING

We are running for First and Second Selectman because there is a desperate need for honest, pro-active leadership in Town Hall; leadership that puts the people of Branford first.

We have witnessed two stagnant years marked by few accomplishments, followed by two tumultuous years crammed with questionable decisions. We are motivated to seek a return to office in order to encourage good ideas and to work strategically towards a better future for Branford.

Branford residents have made it abundantly clear that over-development is a major concern. We pledge to show no favoritism to developers and vow to work with the Planning and Zoning Commission and other regulatory boards to protect Branford against excessive, ill-conceived growth. We will team up with our existing business leaders and organizations to assist them with redevelopment that enhances our Town's character and strengthens our economic outlook.

We are proud of what we accomplished during our three previous Town Hall terms. Success was achieved largely through our strategy of bringing many diverse individuals and groups into the process. Together, we made social, economic and environmental decisions that improved the quality of life for our people and helped pave the way for what's best about Branford today. The Volunteer Service Center, safer sidewalks, the Sewage Treatment Plant, the Animal Shelter, the restoration of Town Hall and other long neglected public buildings and the protection of more open space; these are just some of the goals achieved on our watch.

We promise to bring back an administration dedicated to an open style of government; an administration whose leaders are eager to listen, to involve others, and to empower citizens to carry out new initiatives that truly benefit Branford.

We are running to restore Branford's good reputation that has recently been compromised. We are committed to working closely with our State Senator and Representatives to fight for property tax reform and to ensure that Branford receives its fair share of state money for education. We will use every available opportunity to champion and celebrate our wonderful town, its unique resources, and its great citizens.
