Promoting Branford Businesses
and Economic Development

Created the position of Special Projects Manager to work with the Economic Development Commission to recruit new businesses to town.
Recruited countless smaller businesses to town; more than half of Branford’s nine biotech companies arrived here during the DaRos/Walsh years, including the Institute for Pharmaceutical Discovery; the Institute for Bioanalytics; 454 LifeScience, a spinoff of CuraGen; Cellular Genomics (CGI) and Protometrix, now Invitrogen.
Directed the Town to join the Branford Chamber of Commerce.
Developed and maintained a positive and productive relationship with the Chamber and local businesses to promote economic health and development.
Established the first Town web site in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce, making it easier for businesses to explore opportunities in Branford.
Took steps to get abandoned contaminated industrial sites cleaned up and redeveloped to enhance the commercial and residential tax bases, i.e. the Malleable Iron Fittings site (now Anchor Reef) and the Nutmeg Steel site (now Cherry Hill Glass).
Managed and assisted in the fire recovery effort from the town center fire.
