Rebuilt the public docks at Branford Point and Stony Creek
 

Improving Our Neighborhoods and Community

Constructed or improved sidewalks along Damascus Road, Short Beach Road/Shore Drive, Brushy Plains Road and Harbor Street, making it safer for all pedestrians, including children who walk or bike to the Murphy, Tisko and Walsh Intermediate schools.
Acted to clean up and redevelop abandoned and contaminated industrial sites, transforming them from eyesore liabilities into revenue generating assets; i.e. the Malleable Iron Fittings (MIF) site is now Anchor Reef; the Nutmeg Steel site is now Cherry Hill Glass.
Secured the the Rosenthal property on Kirkham Street to provide increased senior housing and a public botanical garden in the Town Center.
Fought for the new railroad station and promoted its present location.
Redesigned the intersection of Indian Neck Avenue with Maple Street at the renovated MIF site and new railroad station for improved traffic flow and safety.
Directed the renovation and expansion of Town Hall to accommodate modernized Town departments and improved services.
Renovated the Willoughby Wallace Library.
Expanded the Adult Day Center, Orchard House.
Built the Skate Park at Community House in response to a need expressed by young people who, lacking other options, found Town Hall steps and public sidewalks tempting for stunts.
Rebuilt the public docks at Branford Point and Stony Creek.
Successfully defended 24 of 25 land use appeals (Planning & Zoning, Inland Wetlands, Zoning Board of Appeals), including two appeals that protected the Queach property from proposed excessive development.
Spoke out against excessive blasting and excavation proposed for the Rose Court/Founders Village site.
Helped expedite recovery from the town center fire by working with property owners, insurance companies and taxing authorities to fast-track the clean-up and rebuilding.
Helped write laws that allow towns to assist business owners in the face of catastrophic loss, including a town’s ability to waive taxes on destroyed properties.
