From Unk & Andy
Dear Branford Voter,
We are running for First and Second Selectman to continue leading Branford with honest, pro-active leadership in Town Hall. While we are proud of the accomplishments of the previous DaRos administrations, there is still much work to be done. We are energized and look forward to addressing the challenges that face Branford.
In the current economy, Branford requires strong leadership with the courage to make hard choices, the experience to anticipate problems, and the wisdom to maintain priorities and stay the course. We believe that we can best provide such leadership going forward, because of our commitment to the town and because of our track record.
The DaRos administrations have achieved success largely through a strategy of bringing many diverse individuals and groups into the process. Together, we made social, economic and environmental decisions that improved our quality of life and helped pave the way for Branford’s brightest future. Some of the goals achieved on our watch are building the Volunteer Service Center, the Animal Shelter and safer sidewalks, upgrading the Sewage Treatment Plant, the restoration of Town Hall and other long neglected public buildings, as well as the protection of more of Branford’s important natural resources.
Branford is better off than most towns in Connecticut, but not well enough to stand still. We have many ideas and plans designed to move our town forward, now and in the future, recognizing the necessity to maintain a balance between new programs and the burden on taxpayers. The DaRos administration has long demonstrated sound management and efficient government, as reflected in Branford’s AAA bond rating. We support and will implement many new low-cost programs in town that provide better services for residents without additional costs. Branford will do well in this tough economy, and is poised to do much better once the American economy is back on track.
We are running to maintain Branford's good reputation, and our great quality of life. We are will work closely with our leaders in Hartford and Washington to advocate for Branford's interests. We will use every available opportunity to champion and celebrate our wonderful town, its unique resources, and its great citizens.
We promise to continue to operate an open style of government — an administration whose leaders are eager to listen, to involve others, and to empower citizens to carry out new initiatives that truly benefit Branford. Please share your ideas with us by calling us at 203-315-1295, or stop by our headquarters across from the Town Green at 217 Montowese Street. Together, we will build a better Branford, with leadership you can count on.
